Wednesday, January 5

three years/thirty years.

today is our third anniversary.
it is also husband's thirtieth birthday.
(hey! he picked the date, not me.)

i'm glad to be married to such a funny, smart, loving guy.
he's a great daddy and a great husband.

and i can't believe i get to stay up way past bedtime making jokes like this with my husband:

happy birthday, earl.
happy anniversary, too.

Tuesday, January 4

may all your christmases be white.

it's probably because i said that i didn't want a white christmas.

we had one here for the first time since 1993, when they got 0.2 inches.
before that it was 0.3 inches in 1882.
we really broke the record.

it started snowing in the evening and didn't stop until late sunday afternoon.
it was pretty much like having two christmases in a row.
(most of these pictures are from sunday evening, so the snow had melted just a little.)

ellie didn't really care for it, but she liked watching judge run around in it.

we just hunkered down, watched movies and sat around the fire.
what more can i ask for on christmas?

Monday, January 3

so, when i said tomorrow . . .

i meant, in a few days.
next year, even.

it's next year now!
i can't believe it's 2011 already.

2010 was a big, big year. huge, really.

here's a little blurbie recap
(if you can remember blurbies then you have definitely been reading my blog forever).

we waited around for a baby!
and i got really gigantic.

the baby came!
and we've been loving her and losing sleep ever since.

eleanor made the rounds!
she got to know all her people and went out on the town.

we got ready for spring!
and dressed ellie up for a zillion photoshoots.

may
we partied hardy!
thus began the wedding season and all sorts of other fun.

we had fun in the sun!
more parties, more dressing up, more sunglasses.

july
daddy got a new schedule!
and we got to see him more often for naps.

august
we crossed the country!
we spent time in utah with the family - generations and generations of them.

september
ellie grew up!
she started eating food and crawling well and sitting up in the cart.

october
we loved fall!
we dressed up our ellie, ate candy and enjoyed the wonderful southern weather.

november
we ate (and ate and ate)!
we got our pilgrim and indian on with some sweet 'tatoes and turkey burgers.
oh, and ellie decided walking was a cool idea.

we loved the holiday season!
ellie had a really great christmas and so did everyone else, mostly because we have her.

we can't wait to see what 2011 brings.
big things are in the works already (no, not a baby).

p.s. - happy birthday, mom/grammie! can't wait to see you on thursday!

Thursday, December 30

christmas.

CHRISTMAS!

she totally got it. i thought she would only care about the paper and the bows, but she loved each and every gift. she looked them over thoroughly, gave them kisses and studied all the pieces. she even loved the stocking candies. it was so much fun to watch her play all day with her new things and beg for bites of our treats.
we have such a loved, happy, funny girl.

my mother-in-law posted an adorable video of ellie on christmas eve. click here.
for some reason i can't post the video i took on christmas morning, but i'll try again later.

more on our historic white christmas tomorrow.

Saturday, December 25

merry christmas!

and i'll let you know later whether or not our christmas was white.

love,
the fowlers

update: it's white alright! pictures to come soon!

Friday, December 24

it's beginning to look a lot like christmas . . .

and it is finally a decent temperature, too.
i'm not sure if i mentioned it, but we had record-breakingly ridiculous cold weather at the beginning of the month. ellie, judge and i mainly just huddled for warmth all the time. according to the people who tell the weather, it was in the teens but "felt like" the temperature was hovering around zero.

after two years here in the south, i don't want a white christmas or icicles or any of it (i can hang fake snowflakes in the house and they're very pretty). i want it to be just like it was earlier this week: misty, partly sunny and feels about 50-ish degrees outside. perfect.

but the weatherman is saying now that we may have a white christmas after all. we'll have to wait and see.

Thursday, December 23

rosy cheeks.

 we went for a walk
and i had to take some pictures of my sweet, rosy-cheeked girl.

(okay, so she was a little sad when we came inside.)

doesn't she look like she could be on a campbell's soup advertisement?
